Stay connected and lend a hand — send mail, set up cheaper calls, ship a care package, or post bail.
This page holds the inmate records we have on file for the Connecticut Department of Correction (CT DOC). Connecticut is unusual among the states: it runs a unified correctional system, meaning there are no separate county jails. The same agency holds people who were arrested and are awaiting trial as well as those serving sentences, all within one network of facilities. That is worth understanding up front, because it means the person you are looking for — whether newly arrested or long sentenced — is somewhere in the CT DOC system, and the same tools apply to both. For more on this facility — history, programs, and what to expect — see our full facility profile.
Connecticut publishes an official Inmate Information Search where you can look someone up by their CT DOC inmate number, or by name and date of birth. Because the system is unified, the same search covers pre-trial detainees and sentenced inmates, and it will show the facility where the person is currently held. On this page you can browse the records we hold by last name (A–Z), gender, or age to narrow a common name, then confirm the current facility and status through the state's official search. If a recently arrested person does not appear yet, allow some time for the booking to be processed, and try a last-name-only search in case the name was recorded slightly differently. Our inmate search guide for this facility walks through this in more detail.
Visiting in Connecticut starts with paperwork, and the process is deliberately routed through the incarcerated person. An inmate who expects visits gives their assigned counselor the names and addresses of the people they want to visit them. The counselor then provides a Visiting Application Form, which the inmate mails to each prospective visitor. You complete and sign the form and return it to the facility where the inmate is held. Only after you are approved can you schedule and attend a visit. Because each facility sets its own visiting days, hours, and identification and dress requirements, confirm the specifics for that facility once you are approved, and always bring valid photo identification.
Money for an incarcerated person in Connecticut goes through the Inmate Trust Fund (ITF), and the rules are specific. Cash and personal arrangements are not the route; the ITF accepts checks — certified, cashier's, attorney, employer, refund, Social Security, tax refund, unemployment, or veterans' checks — sent by U.S. mail. Make the check payable to the inmate, and include the inmate's first name, middle initial, and last name, their inmate number, their date of birth, and your full name and address. Send it to the Inmate Trust Fund, P.O. Box 290800, Wethersfield, CT 06129-0800. Getting these details right is what keeps a deposit from being delayed or returned, so double-check the inmate number before you mail anything.
Phone calls in the CT DOC system run through Securus. Because incarcerated people place calls out to approved numbers rather than receiving calls, friends and family need to set up an account to receive them. Securus offers a few account types — AdvanceConnect (a prepaid account), Traditional Collect, and Direct Bill — and choosing the right one depends on how often you expect to talk and how you want to pay. Setting up and funding the account in advance means your loved one's first call actually connects, which matters most in the anxious early days after an arrest. For families who talk often, lower-cost calling options can meaningfully reduce the cost over time.
Mail remains one of the most reliable ways to stay connected. Incarcerated people in Connecticut can receive letters and write back, but all mail is inspected for contraband and must follow the department's rules. Address your letter with the person's committed name and inmate number, include a clear return address, and keep enclosures simple — avoid stickers, glitter, adhesive, or anything unusual that could get a letter rejected. If you are unsure whether a particular item is allowed, it is safer to leave it out and ask. Our letter service formats and mails your correspondence so it meets facility requirements on the first try.
The entries on this page are drawn from public data and reflect booking and custody records at a point in time, not a live feed from inside a facility. Because Connecticut's unified system moves people between pre-trial and sentenced status and between facilities, a record here can lag behind a transfer, a release, or a change in status. Individual fields may also be incomplete — a middle name dropped or an age tied to the booking date. None of that reflects on the person; it reflects the limits of public records. Treat an entry as a lead, then confirm the current picture through the state's official inmate search. If a recently arrested person is not showing up where you expect, remember that the unified system may still be processing the booking, or the person may have already moved between a pre-trial holding assignment and a sentenced-population facility — waiting a day and searching again by last name only will often resolve it.
Because CT DOC holds pre-trial detainees, some people listed here have not been convicted and may be eligible for release on bond while their case proceeds; if bail has been set, a licensed bail agent can explain the amount and process. Others are serving sentences, where the focus shifts to communication, commissary, programs, and reentry. Everyone listed is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. Start by confirming the person's inmate number and current facility through the official search, then use this page to keep track and take the next step — set up a Securus account, mail a first letter, or send funds through the Inmate Trust Fund. The CT DOC Public Information Office, at 24 Wolcott Hill Road in Wethersfield, can be reached at (860) 692-7780 to confirm details. Because records here are compiled from public sources and can lag behind the official system, always verify anything time-sensitive before you travel or send money.
