We collect only what we need to run the Site, fulfill orders, and support families — and we describe our practices plainly below.

Affiliate disclosure — TruthFinder

PrisonAssist.com is an independent website and an affiliate marketing partner of TruthFinder. When you follow links from our Site to TruthFinder and sign up for a paid membership or purchase a service, we may receive compensation at no additional cost to you.

TruthFinder is a separate company. Your relationship with TruthFinder — including account registration, recurring subscription billing, search results, refunds, and data practices — is governed by TruthFinder's own Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and Billing Policy. We do not control TruthFinder's services, pricing, or cancellation process.

Subscription notice: TruthFinder memberships are typically billed on a recurring basis until cancelled. Review pricing and billing terms on TruthFinder before completing a purchase. To cancel, follow TruthFinder's cancellation instructions.

This Privacy Policy explains how PrisonAssist.com ("Site," "we," "us," or "our") handles information when you search records, browse guides, register an account, contact us, or purchase a service. By using the Site, you agree to the practices described here and our Cookie Policy.

1. Scope

This policy applies to PrisonAssist.com. It does not apply to third parties — including TruthFinder, bail agents, fulfillment partners, payment processors, or OAuth providers — that operate under their own privacy policies when you interact with them directly or leave our Site.

2. Information we collect

  • Information you provide. Name, email, phone, mailing address, message contents, order details, inmate/facility information for service fulfillment, and record-removal requests.
  • Account registration. If you sign in with Google, Facebook, or another supported provider, we receive the profile information that provider shares (typically name, email, and avatar) to create and maintain your client account.
  • Order and billing. Transaction amounts, dates, and order references. Full payment card numbers are processed by our payment processor, not stored on our servers.
  • Automatic data. IP address, approximate location, browser/device type, referring URLs, pages viewed, search queries on our Site, and timestamps — via cookies, server logs, and similar technologies.
  • Affiliate referrals. When you click a link to TruthFinder, we and TruthFinder may receive referral parameters or cookies to attribute the visit. Any account or payment data you provide to TruthFinder is collected by them under their privacy policy.
  • Public records. Arrest and inmate listings displayed in our directory are compiled from public government sources — not information you provide to us. See Data Source.

3. How we use information

  • Operate, secure, and improve the Site and search functionality;
  • Create and manage user accounts and service workspaces;
  • Process, fulfill, and confirm orders with our partners;
  • Respond to support, privacy, and record-removal requests;
  • Send transactional messages about orders and account activity;
  • Detect fraud, abuse, and Terms violations;
  • Comply with law and defend legal claims;
  • Send marketing only where permitted and with opt-out where required — we do not sell your personal information for money.

4. How we share information

We share information only as needed with:

  • Service providers — hosting, analytics, payment processing, email, customer support tools;
  • Fulfillment partners — bail agents, mail/printers, care-package vendors, phone partners — only what they need to deliver your order;
  • Affiliate partners — referral data when you follow links to TruthFinder;
  • Legal and safety — when required by law or to protect rights and safety;
  • Business transfers — merger, acquisition, or asset sale, subject to this policy;
  • With your direction — when you ask us to or submit data to a partner.

We do not sell personal information for monetary consideration. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are defined under California and similar state laws, except as disclosed for affiliate attribution cookies.

5. Data retention

We retain information only as long as needed for the purposes above, to provide services, meet legal and accounting obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. When no longer needed, we delete or de-identify it. Order records are typically kept longer than general correspondence for tax and fraud-prevention reasons.

6. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards, including encryption in transit and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. Notify us promptly if you believe your account or information has been compromised.

7. Your privacy rights (all U.S. residents)

Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights regarding personal information we hold about you:

  • Know / access — what we collect and how we use it;
  • Correct information;
  • Delete personal information, subject to legal exceptions;
  • Portability — receive a copy in a usable format where applicable;
  • Opt out of sale, sharing for targeted advertising, or certain profiling where applicable;
  • Limit use of sensitive personal information where applicable;
  • Non-discrimination — we will not discriminate against you for exercising privacy rights.

We will verify your identity (typically by confirming account or order details) and respond within the timeframe required by applicable law. Authorized agents may submit requests with proof of authorization.

Residents of California may also request disclosure of categories of personal information collected, categories of sources, business purposes, and categories of third parties with whom we share — and may direct us not to sell or share personal information (we do not sell as defined under the CCPA/CPRA). California residents under 18 may request removal of content they posted where applicable.

Residents of other states without a comprehensive privacy law still may contact us with privacy questions; we handle requests fairly and in good faith regardless of residence.

9. Children's privacy

The Site is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Contact us to request deletion if you believe a child has provided us information.

10. U.S. processing

We operate in the United States. Information is processed and stored in the U.S. and where our service providers operate. If you access the Site from outside the U.S., you consent to transfer and processing in the U.S.

11. Changes

We may update this policy; the "last updated" date will change. Material updates may include additional notice where appropriate. Continued use after updates constitutes acceptance.
