The catch is that every facility has its own list of what's allowed — send the wrong item and the whole package can be rejected. What's usually allowed
- Snacks & food — sealed, commissary-style packaged goods
- Hygiene — soap, toothpaste, deodorant (often alcohol-free)
- Stationery — paper, envelopes, stamps where permitted
- Apparel — approved undergarments, socks, thermals at some facilities
What's usually banned
Anything that could conceal or become contraband: glass containers, aerosols, alcohol-based products, homemade or unsealed food, and items over the facility's quantity limits. Because rules differ even between two jails in the same state, we always filter to the exact facility your inmate is in.
Approved package vendors
Most facilities require packages to come from a specific approved vendor rather than straight from you — commonly Access Securepak (Keefe Group), Union Supply Direct, or Walkenhorst's. We work within those programs so your package meets the rules; see our provider directory for how each one works.
