Staying Connected with a Loved One at Will County Adult Detention Center

The Will County Adult Detention Center — operated by the Will County Sheriff's Office at 95 South Chicago Street in Joliet, Illinois — houses pretrial detainees and county-sentenced inmates in a facility of more than 1,000 beds. Finding Your Loved One

The Will County Sheriff's Office provides an online inmate roster at willcosheriff.org. You can search by name to find current detainees, confirm booking status, and find basic information including charges and bond status.

For newly booked individuals who may not yet appear in the online system, call the detention center directly at (815) 727-8895. The booking office can confirm whether someone is in custody and provide basic information about their status.

Phone Calls

Will County Jail uses Securus Technologies for inmate telephone services. To receive calls from your loved one:

1. Create a free account at securustech.net
2. Register the phone number where you want to receive calls
3. Load funds into your AdvanceConnect account
4. Make sure your number is on the inmate's approved call list

Inmates call out — they cannot receive incoming calls. All calls except attorney-client calls are monitored and recorded. Illinois regulations govern per-minute rates for county jail calls.

Sending Money

Trust account deposits for Will County Jail inmates go through JPay:

1. Go to JPay.com and create an account
2. Search for the inmate by name and ID number under "Will County, Illinois"
3. Deposit using a credit or debit card — transaction fees apply

Money orders made payable to the inmate (with their full name and booking number) can also be mailed to the facility. Processing is slower than electronic transfers.

Visitation

The Will County Sheriff's Office Corrections Division manages visiting schedules. General requirements:

Medical and Mental Health Emergencies

The facility maintains 24-hour medical staffing and dental access at least twice weekly. If you believe your loved one is in a medical emergency, call (815) 727-8895 and ask for the medical unit or shift supervisor. For life-threatening emergencies, you may also call 911 and explain that a family member is in Will County Jail.

The Center for Correctional Concerns: Free Social Services

The Center for Correctional Concerns has operated inside Will County Jail since 1979, providing free social services to detainees including GED preparation, crisis support, and social services coordination. It is funded independently of the Sheriff's Office and staffed by social service professionals. Under executive director Christine Alcorn, who took over in October 2024, the Center continues to serve detainees on sentences of up to one year and those awaiting trial.
